Al-zawahiri’s Death in the American Drone Attack, Did Pakistan Know About This Action?
The issue of the death of al-Qaeda leader Ayman al-Zawahiri in a US drone strike is still a matter of debate. There are also speculations about the motives of the attack in Kabul and the information about the whereabouts of Al-Zawahiri and the access of the United States to him. In such a situation, the possible role of Pakistan in helping America in the war against terrorism is also being discussed.
It should be remembered that in the past, the United States has been using Pakistan’s territory to target Al-Qaeda bases in Afghanistan, while after the 9/11 attack on Afghanistan, a large number of Al-Qaeda leaders were arrested by the United States. was handed over.
Did Pakistan help America to reach Al-Zawahiri? Is there still cooperation between the intelligence agencies of the United States and Pakistan? Observers are expressing different opinions in this regard.
Some experts say that Pakistan may not have played any direct role in the killing of Ayman al-Zawahiri, but the use of Pakistani airspace cannot be ruled out.
It should be noted that the statement issued by the Foreign Office of Pakistan on the death of Al-Zawahiri said that Pakistan condemns all forms of terrorism. Everyone knows Pakistan’s role and sacrifices in the war against terrorism.
“The system of cooperation between America and Pakistan has existed since the Musharraf era.”
Defense analyst Brigadier (retd) Saad Muhammad says that during the reign of General Musharraf, ground line of communication and airline line of communication agreements were concluded between Pakistan and the United States, which are still in place.
Speaking to Voice of America, he further said that the US has military bases in the Gulf countries, from where it can easily use drones.
It should be noted that no official statement has come out on the issue of the death of Ayman al-Zawahiri from the Taliban and al-Qaeda.
Speaking to TOLO News on Wednesday, Deputy Prime Minister of the Taliban Interim Government Abdul Salam Hanafi said that no clear information has come out in this regard. It is only known that an attack has taken place, which the Taliban strongly condemns.
He further said that this attack is a clear violation of human values, international norms and the Doha Agreement and the Taliban adhere to the decision of not allowing their territory to be used against any other country under the Doha Peace Agreement.
‘America would not have shared information with Pakistan’
Dr. Esfandiar Mir, associated with the United Institute of Peace, a research organization in Washington, says that he does not believe that the United States has shared information regarding this operation with Pakistan.
Speaking to Voice of America, he said that the Pakistani authorities are said to have a very close relationship with Sirajuddin Haqqani. In this context, it seems difficult for the US and US officials to share such sensitive information with Pakistan.
He further said that at this time, if Pakistan is interested in sharing any information regarding terrorism with the US and the international community, it will be regarding Daesh. Because if seen, in the last one decade, Pakistan has not had any particular problem with Al-Qaeda.
He said that after this incident, many difficulties have arisen for the Taliban. There has been a crack in his policy regarding increasing relations with international countries as well as with friendly countries.
According to Dr. Isfandyar Mir, realizing the recent tension between Taiwan and China and the fragility of the situation, the statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Taliban praised the ‘One China’ policy. Which makes it clear that the Taliban is leaning towards China in the tension between China and America.
Abdul Qahar Balkhi, spokesperson of the Taliban government’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said in a tweet that the Taliban insists on the ‘One China Policy’ and wants a solution to the US-China tension through appropriate means. So that they can work together for regional and international peace, stability and development.
Some experts say that Al-Qaeda leader Ayman al-Zawahiri may have been sheltered by the interim interior minister of the Taliban government, Sirajuddin Haqqani.
However, Dr. Isfandiar Mir said that he does not think that only the Haqqani group will know about this. Because if we look at the past, Mullah Muhammad Omar, the founder of Taliban, lost his previous government for Osama bin Laden and Mullah Omar was not from Haqqani group but from Kandahar.
On the other hand, according to analysts, no country in the world has any choice but to cooperate with the United States regarding Al-Qaeda.
According to Brigadier (Rtd) Saad Mohammad, the US has the capability to jam the radar even without the consent of Pakistan and Iran. Along with this, there is a United Nations resolution in the matter of Al-Qaeda, according to which every country is obliged to cooperate with the United States to deal with Al-Qaeda.
Regarding the presence of al-Qaeda chief Ayman al-Zawahiri in Kabul, Taliban Doha office political spokesman Mohammad Sohail Shaheen says that the government and the Taliban leadership were not aware of al-Zawahiri’s presence.
In a statement, he said that the Taliban government is bound by the Doha Peace Agreement. The Afghan leadership is conducting an investigation into the incident, the results of which will be shared with everyone.
